Legal notice, privacy & AI transparency
Everything required about this website in one place: who runs it, what data is involved, and how the products were made.
This is a courtesy translation. The German version is the legally binding one.

Where the selling happens
Nothing is sold through this website. All products are offered through our shop on Etsy; purchase, payment and delivery are handled there, under the terms stated in each Etsy listing.
Liability for content and links
These pages were prepared with care, but we cannot guarantee that the content is accurate, complete or up to date. This site links to external websites whose content we do not control; responsibility for those pages lies with their respective providers. No unlawful content was apparent when the links were set. If we become aware of any legal infringement, we will remove the link promptly.
Copyright
The content, text, graphics, screenshots and downloadable files offered here are protected by German copyright law. Buying a product grants the right to use it privately and in your own teaching; passing the files on, copying them or reselling them is not permitted.
Privacy policy
This website is built so that as little data as possible is involved: no cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no embedded third-party content. Fonts, images and scripts are served from the same server as the page itself — loading a page opens no connection to any other provider.
The short notice shown on your first visit is exactly that: a notice. It does not ask you to agree to anything, because there is nothing here to agree to. Section 5 explains the one entry it leaves on your device and how to remove it.
1. Controller
The controller for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Design und Foto JochimsOwner: Lars Jochims
Zeppelinstrasse 6
25761 Büsum
Germany
E-mail: info@guitarnotemap.com
A data protection officer is not required by law (§ 38 BDSG).
2. Visiting the website and server log files
When you open a page, your browser transmits technically necessary information to our server, which is written to log files:
- the truncated or full IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- the address requested and the amount of data transferred
- a status code confirming whether the request succeeded
- the previously visited page (referrer), if transmitted
- browser, browser version and operating system
Purpose and legal basis: this information is technically necessary to deliver the page and serves operational security and the prevention of attacks. The processing is based on our legitimate interest in secure and stable operation, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Retention: log files are deleted automatically after 7 days. They are kept longer only where a specific security incident requires analysis, and then only until the matter is resolved.
This data is not combined with other sources and is not evaluated for advertising purposes.
3. Hosting
This website runs on a server operated by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Strasse 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. The server is located in Germany. IONOS processes the data listed above on our behalf as a processor; a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place.
3a. Who else sees this data
Apart from our hosting provider named above, and the e-mail provider that carries messages you send us, no one receives data from this website. We use no advertising networks, no analytics providers and no content delivery networks, and we do not sell or pass on data. No data is transferred to a country outside the European Union by this website itself; that only happens if you follow a link to Etsy — see section 6.
4. Contact by e-mail
If you write to us, we process your sender address and whatever you tell us in order to answer. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns a contract, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete the message once it has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods for business correspondence apply.
There is no contact form on this site — only the e-mail address. Nothing reaches us that you did not send yourself. You are under no obligation, legal or contractual, to give us any data; the only consequence of not writing to us is that we cannot answer.
5. Cookies and local storage
This website sets no cookies. It embeds no analytics and no advertising services, and there is no audience measurement and no profiling of any kind.
Exactly one entry is kept on your device, in your browser’s local storage: a note that you have seen our privacy notice, so that it does not reappear on every page. It holds no identifier, it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and only this website can read it.
- Name: gnm-privacy-notice
- Content: the choice you made and the date
- Storage: your browser’s local storage — not a cookie, so it is never sent to a server
- Duration: until you delete it
This entry is strictly necessary to deliver the function you asked for when you dismissed the notice, so it falls under § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG and does not require consent. You can remove it at any time: open Privacy choices at the bottom of any page and choose to forget the choice, or clear site data in your browser. The notice will then simply appear again.
Should we ever add a service that does require consent — an embedded video, a map, an audience measurement tool — it would be listed in that same notice and would not load until you agreed. Today there is nothing of the sort, which is why the notice asks nothing of you.
6. Links to Etsy and others
Our products are sold through Etsy. This page uses plain links for that — no Etsy buttons, scripts or tracking pixels. As long as you do not click such a link, Etsy learns nothing about your visit here.
Once you click, you leave this website and Etsy’s privacy policy applies. Etsy routinely sets cookies and transfers data to servers outside the European Union, in particular to the United States. We have no influence over that processing. Etsy is Etsy Ireland UC, One Le Pole Square, Ship Street Great, Dublin 8, Ireland; its privacy policy is at etsy.com/legal/privacy.
7. Encryption
This website is delivered over an encrypted connection (TLS/HTTPS), shown by the padlock in your browser’s address bar.
8. No automated decision-making
There is no automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. The products themselves make no decisions about people either — after download they run entirely on your own device and send nothing to us or to anyone else.
9. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- access to the data processed (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)
- withdrawal of consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR), wherever processing is ever based on your consent — as explained in section 5, nothing on this site currently is
An informal message to info@guitarnotemap.com is enough.
Right to lodge a complaint
Without prejudice to other remedies, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is:

10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the processing or the legal situation changes. The version published here is the one that applies.
AI transparency
We think it is right to say plainly where artificial intelligence was involved and where it was not. The following is a voluntary disclosure.
The products contain no AI
The tools we sell are not AI systems. They calculate music theory — intervals, chord formulas, scales — by fixed, traceable rules. There is no model, no training data, no prediction and no automated decision. After download they run entirely offline on your device and send nothing anywhere. The transparency and marking obligations for AI systems in Article 50 of the AI Act (EU) 2024/1689 therefore do not apply to these products.
Where AI helped in making them
These tools were designed by me and built with AI assistance for the code. The digital structure, the setup and the interactive design are mine. For the teaching content I rely on established, long-proven guitar learning methods; the original inventors of these time-honoured concepts are unknown to me, and I have adapted and structured that knowledge into these tools.
Images
The product images on this site and in the shop listings are real screenshots of the actual tools — none of them is a recreated or generated picture of a screen. The scene around them (background, device staging) is AI-assisted design. We do not strip Content Credentials from image files that carry them.
This website
The text, design and code of this website were also produced with AI assistance, with editorial responsibility and review by Lars Jochims.
